This is the story of my adventures in the outdoors of Arkansas; from the bland to the grand and everything in between.

Good Night and Late Start

So I woke up late this morning, an hour and half late. I hate when days start off like this. I am glad I don’t have to work at SG tonight. Tonight it is the grocery store, running maybe and possibly Barnes.

I worked last night at SG and it was a pretty busy night. Several times there was not a table open in the house. Most people were hanging out but there were a few people that came in just for dinner. I had a good night last night working, not because I made lots of money because I did average money wise but, because I had a couple of good compliments. The first one went down to the counter as he was leaving and told them that I was a great waiter with a wonderful personality and he thought the restaurant should now that. The second was the owner for Trio’s (a nicer restaurant in town that has the BEST desserts around), he comes in often and I have waited on him several times. He and his lady friend came in and went upstairs and requested me to be their waiter. It made me feel really good.

I have to mention this girl that came in to the restaurant last night. Have you ever seen someone that is so beautiful that you were almost embarrassed to be around them? That person came into the restaurant last night and I waited on her. I was awe struck, clumsy, tongue tied, and shy. She was elegant, graceful, neat, polite and a good tipper.

Wrecks and birthdays

It has been a while since I posted and do not have much to tell other then I turned 34 this past Thursday. I did take off of work from both jobs Thursday through Sunday. I had planned to go down to Mississippi for a camping trip all week but the rainy weather ended those plans. Camping in the rain is not much fun. Instead I stayed home Thursday and worked in the yard. Sounds like an exciting way to spend my birthday doing doesn’t it. Actually I enjoy working in the yard and I was able to get a lot accomplished. Thursday night Jess took me out to dinner to one of my favorite restaurants in town, Brave New Restaurant. Friday morning I got up and drove to Hot Springs (actually Mount Ida) to go biking on the Womble Trail. The Womble Trial is listed as an Epic Ride by IMBA (International Mountain Bike Association). It is a wonderful trail. I did not have good luck on it though. After only about 5 miles into the trail I “face planted” meaning I hit something and flipped the bike over forwards and went over the handle bars. That is part of mountain biking, you are going to wreck every once in a while. Unfortunately I bent my disc rotor on the rear tire. So it was dragging and adding too much resistance to keep riding all day. I knew I had to go back to the car and head back home. Before I left though I wanted to hit that obstacle again to prove to myself that I could clear it. Well this time I over compensated and flipped the bike over backwards. I just laid there in the dirt laughing. I am just glad no one saw me wreck twice on the same obstacle. Even I got thrown twice from my bike and suffered a few scratches and bruises it was still fun. In fact I think I am going to go back this weekend if it is not raining.
